Publication on the CRC with reference to Icelandic laws

The National Committee released a publication called the The Convention on the Rights of the Child: The Convention with Reference to Icelandic Legislation, which was launched on the CRC’s 18th birthday in November 2008.

This is the first time a publication like this is made in Iceland. In each chapter, one article of the Convention is explained generally and some aspects of it is explained in details. In the end of each chapter the article is compared to Icelandic law and the juridical system.

The publication was largely based on the book Implementation Handbook for the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was released by UNICEF.

The author, Thorhildur Lindal, is well known in Iceland for her work for childrens' rights. She is a lawyer and was the ombudsperson for children in Iceland for ten years. She teaches law at the University of Iceland.
